We had another successful CME on August 25, organized and hosted by my colleague and a founder member of the SER, Dr Arjun Kalyanpur, and his team at Teleradiology Solutions, Bangalore. This was a focused session on “Updates and recent technological advancements in Emergency Radiology”, in keeping with the vision of the SER of incorporating newer technologies of teleradiology and artificial intelligence to enhance the scope of emergency radiology. The highlights included workshops on Artificial Intelligence and Musculoskeletal Sonography in the emergent setting and a fun session on teleradiology. The CME involved national radiology faculty and also technology experts from Indian Institute of Science and Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology. This was a good step towards preparing ourselves for the future and building collaborations with our technology experts. There was also a fun AI challenge posed to the delegates by Dr Arjun’s technology team to highlight the synergistic radiology-AI relationship that we can foresee in times to come. The residents participated enthusiastically in the ER quiz and demonstrated their skills in diagnosing various emergency radiology cases.
The academic content was excellent and the workshops appealed to the audience, evident by enthusiastic Q&A. We had over 100 participants. I am equally impressed by seamless organization, aggressive publicity and a very warm hospitality. And, it gives me great pride to be an active participant from both sides and to see the two organizations work together towards the growth of emergency radiology.
The SER has achieved another important landmark in terms of promoting education in Emergency Radiology with the announcement of the fellowship program, starting in January 2020, at Teleradiology Solutions. The proposal has been approved by the Executive Body and it will be discussed at the next GBM scheduled for November 9, 2019 during our annual conference in Delhi.
My heartiest congratulations to Dr Arjun and the Teleradiology Solutions team on the immense success of the program and wishing him the very best for the re-instatement of the ER fellowship.
